Special Educational Needs Information

What does SEND mean?

Children are unique and therefore we are aware that each individual progresses at a different rate. We recognise children all have different interests, talents, abilities and aspirations. Our staff take account of this in the way they plan and teach high quality learning experiences, support and assess our children. Teachers use a range of assessment strategies daily alongside half termly assessments to monitor children’s progress. Children who make slower progress or have particular difficulties in an area are given extra support by the teacher or TA where necessary. Chorley New Road Primary Academy is committed to providing an appropriate and high quality education to all the children within our school.

We believe that all children, including those identified as having special educational needs have a common entitlement to a broad and balanced academic and social curriculum, which is accessible to them. We equally value all pupils in the school and strive to eliminate prejudice and discrimination thereby developing an environment where all children flourish and feel safe. At Chorley New Road Primary Academy we strive to support all children to enable them to achieve at school. In order to do this many steps are taken to support them through their learning journey.

High quality teaching is vital; however for some children there are occasions when further additional support may be needed to help them achieve their targets.

Send Local Offer

What is a local offer?

From September 2014, each local authority in England has to publish a Local Offer for children and young people aged 0 to 25 years who have a special educational need or disability.

The purpose of the Local Offer is to provide a single point for information to help families access details about services available to them and offer guidance in multiple areas, such as:

  • Early years places

  • Schools (including academies and free schools)

  • Colleges

  • Health and care

  • Leisure activities.

The Local Offer also includes guidance for parents when they need to speak with practitioners and professionals and information on giving feedback, raising concerns and making complaints. More Information

Early Help Offer

Early Help is a way of bringing workers together to work with children and their families when they need extra support. This could be for any reason including health, education, parenting, emotional well-being and many more.  We are here to support you and your child, should you need us in any way.  Please get in touch, if you would like some further information on how we can support you.  The poster below offers more information about Bolton Council’s offer, in relation to Early Help.
